BAHAWALPUR: The Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC) has finalised a comprehensive sanitation plan to keep the city clean during the Eidul Azha days.

According to the plan unveiled by BWMC Managing Director Naeem Ahmed, the Eid holidays of all the company staffers, including some 1,000 sanitary workers have been cancelled and they have been directed to perform their respective duties during the three days of Eid.

The MD said as many as 25 camps would be set up at different city locations where sanitary workers and officials of the concerned union councils would be present to serve the people.

He said through these camps free plastic bags would be distributed among the people to dispose of waste of the sacrificial animals. He said thousands of such plastic bags had already been distributed in the city by the sanitary employees. People had been asked to put animal offal in these bag and place them outside their house from where the BWMC workers would collect them for safe disposal, he said, adding for the purpose some 80 vehicles, in addition to dumpers and trollies had been arranged.

He said the company’s office would also remain open during three Eid days and helpline 1139 would be available round the clock.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Saqib Zafar has ordered implementation of the sanitation plan. He also ordered that doctors’ should be present at all public healthcare facilities during the holidays.

RESCUE 1122: The Rescue 1122 emergency service has also finalised a plan to meet any emergency during the Eid holidays.

According to Emergency Officer Dr Malik Asif Rahim Channar, the rescuers would provide emergency cover to all Eid congregations in the city.

The Rescue 1122 personnel would be deputed at six traffic control points in the city, besides recreational places like zoo, Lal Sohanra National Park etc. to meet any eventuality.
