QUETTA: Security personnel arrested four suspected militants belonging to a banned organisation during a combing operation in Ghousabad, a locality on the outskirts of the provincial capital, on Sunday.

Sources said that the personnel of Frontier Corps launched the operation on a tip-off about the presence of some militants.

An FC spokesperson said that the operation was conducted near the Faroo-i-Azam Chowk.

He said the arrested people had been handed over to agencies concerned for interrogation.

The spokesperson also claimed that the FC had foiled a plan for attack on security forces in Rabi canal area of Chatter tehsil in Nasirabad district. FC personnel defused an improvised explosive device placed on roadside apparently to target security forces, he added.

Meanwhile, police have arrested five Afghan nationals in Pishin who lacked legal documents for their stay in Pakistan. Sources said that the arrests were made during a raid on a restaurant in Pishin bazaar.
