LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the Sialkot district administration to allow Benazir Literary Festival in Daska and cooperate with festival’s organisers.

Advocate Raheel Kamran, a local leader of the PPP, had filed a petition, contending that the government was not allowing them to hold the annual literary festival in Daska over security concerns. He said the festival originally scheduled for April 4 this year was postponed after the government denied permission, citing security reasons.

He said the organisers had issued a new schedule for the festival; however, the government had the same stance. The lawyer asked the court to allow holding of the literary festival.

Justice Shahid Karim disposed of the petition and directed the Sialkot district government not to hinder the festival rather cooperate with the organisers.
