LARKANA, Dec 7: A complete strike was observed in Kambar town on Sunday in protest against the killing of a woman and her daughter on Saturday.
A large number of protesters, led by Deedar Wadho, president, PPP, Kambar city; Wazeer Lashari, and Hafeez Hakiro, marched on the main roads of the town and held a sit-in on a section of the Kambar-Larkana road.
The road remained blocked for two hours.Speaking on the occasion, they demanded that the killers be arrested soon.They criticized the police for failing to maintain law and order in the town.
PROTEST: People from different walks of life on Sunday, responding to the call of the Mohenjodaro Social Welfare Association, Dokri, held a demonstration to press for its demands, including the early recovery of the artefacts stolen from the Mohenjodaro Museum.
The protesters were led by Nazeer Soomro, the general secretary, MSWA; Bakhshal Gilal, president, Chamber of Commerce; and Ramzan Junejo.
They marched through the main roads of the town and finally stopped at the main chowk.
Addressing the protesters, Mazhar Daghi, Ghulam Ali Mangi and Aftab Kazin said that the sanitary situation of Larkana was very poor.
They said that Wapda was sending incorrect and highly inflated bills to its clients.
They said that the rise in unemployment and the increase in prices of commodities had pushed them to the brink of poverty.
They criticized the slow pace of investigation into the robbery at the Mohenjodaro Museum.
They demanded that the Bolan Mail start stopping at the Mohenjodaro Railway Station once again.
PRISONERS: At least 12 prisoners injured themselves in the central prison, Larkana, on Friday and Saturday in protest against the withdrawal of facilities provided to them during Ramazan. Some prisoners scaled the walls of their barracks. The jail authorities took them to the isolation ward where some of the them inflicted injuries on themselves in protest.
