KOHAT: The unscheduled power cuts for three hours daily in addition to the routine loadshedding continue to hit the urban and rural areas of Kohat since Eidul Azha.

Mostly the electricity supply remains suspended in the evening and after 12:00am disturbing sleep and dinner preparation. Also, the abrupt disappearance and resumption of electricity after one or two seconds has also affected the electronic gadgets like automatic generators and refrigerators.

The problem affecting large parts has been overcome after several months, said a Pesco official who administers the Kohat division region spread over Kohat, Hangu, Karak and Mianwali districts.

He claimed that the problem was traced to the source, but when verified it surfaced that it was prevalent in few phases in every district due to local fault at the grid station.

Similarly, after even a drizzle the electricity remains off for hours in Kohat. It remained suspended for four hours on Wednesday after a light rain. The official said that the system heated up and required some time to cool and that was why the loadshedding was carried out during Eidul Azha.

INSAF FOOD CARDS: The agriculture extension department has cancelled all the previous cards issued to farmers to benefit from Insaf Food Programme and asked them to get new ones from model farm services.

Talking to mediapersons on Wednesday here, district agriculture officer (extension wing) Zahirullah Khattak said that to get better quality wheat seed the farmers should submit Rs600 to get permanent membership. The membership would continue till Sept 30, 2016 and the farmers could get the seed for Rs500 per 50 kilogrammes.
