RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed death sentences awarded to seven militants, who were involved in committing heinous offences related to terrorism, including killing of innocent civilians, police officials and armed forces personnel. The convicts were tried by military courts.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the convicts were also involved in sectarian killings. It said firearms and explosives were seized from their possession.

The names of the convicts are Mohammad Qasim Tori, Abid Ali, Mohammad Danish, Syed Jehangir Haider, Zeeshan, Mutabar Khan and Rehmanuddin.

At least four of them admitted to their offences before the trial courts. All of them were awarded the death sentence.
