KARACHI: Pakistan Test Captain Misbah-ul-Haq on Sunday said sports must be separated from politics and added that he aims for a cricket series between Pakistan and India.
"Pakistan is always ready to play against India but what can we do if they do not want to play. If India can play against Pakistan in ICC events then why not in bilateral series?" Misbah questioned.
He added that sports, specially cricket can bring the people of India and Pakistan together.
Misbah also praised the current performance of the Pakistan team in T20 series against World T20 champions.
"After beating England in the last one-day international, the team is doing really well," he said.
However he believed that the West Indies is not a weak side and said they can bounce back in the ODIs and in the Test format.
"We must be mentally prepared for the their counter attack."
Regarding Pakistan's direct qualification in World Cup 2019, the Test skipper said that every ODI is now crucial.
"The team must focus to perform well in every game now," the 42- year-old said.
Pakistan will play three ODIs against the West Indies on Sept 30 and Oct 2 in Sharjah, and Oct 5 in Abu Dhabi.
