Teachers’ day is around the corner, while many of you may have already decided what to present to your teacher, there might still be some fretting over ideas. If you are not sure what to do, there is still time and you can make some cute little cards for your teachers. We’ll show you how to make cards shaped like a coffee mug and a doll.

Things you need for both cards

  1. Coloured papers; green, pink, yellow or red (you can use glaze paper)

  2. Flattened cardboard or hard paper.

  3. Glue stick

  4. Pencil

  5. Scissors

  6. Two white sheets

  7. Yellow, brown or black thick thread or yarn

Directions for ‘Coffee mug card’

  1. Draw a mug on the cardboard or hard paper with the handle wide enough to get a grown up finger inside as in Pic. 1. Fold it so that one end remains open and the other sealed. Cut it out.

  2. Paste any coloured glaze paper of your choice and keep it aside.

  3. Draw two flowers, leaves and stem on the hard paper make sure they are according to the size of your mug. Cut them out.

  4. Paste red or pink glaze paper on them. Your flowers have to look the same on the inside and the outside so in case of glaze paper, which is white on the other side, you must paste the same colour on both sides of the flowers as well as on leaves. See Pic. 2.

  5. Draw relatively small flowers and leaves on the white paper, this part is tricky as you have to keep it neat. Then, take the drawn part out from the white paper very carefully as in Pic. 2.

  6. Paste the flowers and leaves on the stem and let them dry. Now paste these flowers on the inside of the mug (in my case it is the left side) as in Pic. 3.

  7. Cut out a square, heart or circle of any colour and paste it on the other side of the mug to write message for your teacher, as in Pic.4.

  8. Now paste the cut out flowers on the front of the mug as in Pic 5. Your coffee mug card is ready!

Directions for ‘Doll card’

  1. Use any coloured hard paper and cut in any shape, like square, circle, or heart. Remember to keep the length to maximum eight inches.

  2. Draw and cut out a circle of one inch diameter for the head of the doll from the white paper.

  3. Cut out a rectangle from red or pink glaze paper: three-inch in length and two-inch in width and curve it diagonal as in Pic. 1.

  4. Paste the white circle of head between the two curved sides of the rectangle; draw eyes and smiling mouth on it.

  5. To make hair, take some thread or yarn and fold it to get the maximum thickness of the hair. Cut it three-inch in length and paste it on the head of the doll.

  6. Cut out a two-inch square-shaped piece from any bright coloured paper or white paper, then paste it in the bottom and write ‘Super teacher.’

  7. Paste the doll in the centre or diagonally on the coloured hard paper.

  8. Cut out small stars of various colours. If you have stickers you can also stick them on the empty space. Your doll card is ready!
