Man, son killed in Swabi

SWABI: A man and his son were killed in Turlandi village here on Thursday.

Registering an FIR in Kalu Khan police station, Shakil Ahmad, son of the deceased, said that he along with his father Muntazir Shah and brother Ijaz Ahmad was going to Chota Lahor tehsil in a car. He said that when one Tariq Khan of the Turlandi village forced them to stop the car and opened fire on them.

As a result, Shakil’s father and brother were killed on the spot while he survived the attack. The cause of the incident was said be a woman-related dispute.

In another incident, a motorcyclist, identified as Yusuf Ali, was killed in Adina village when his bike collided with an auto-rickshaw near Shewa Adda on Thursday.

Also, the police seized seven kilogrammes of charas being smuggled to Punjab on Thursday.

District police officer Javid Iqbal said that a car (LEE 6102) was stopped by Topi police at Shaheed Baba checkpost and after search seven kgs of charas was recovered from its sections. One Nur Rehman, a resident of Pishtakhara in Peshawar, has been arrested. The Topi police have registered the case.

RAIWIND MARCH: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senior minister Shahram Khan Tarakai claimed on Thursday that Friday’s Raiwind march would prove to be a turning point for restoration of true justice and eliminating corruption in the country.

Talking to this correspondent, he said that corruption was a big challenge and without its eradication it might be difficult for the country to achieve economic prosperity. He said that when politicians would indulge in corrupt practices and shift funds to foreign countries the country would not be able to achieve progress and provide facilities to its people.
