KARACHI: Faisalabad sealed a nine-wicket win over Quetta to qualify for the triangular phase of the PCB Inter-region Under-19 (Three-day) Cricket Tournament on Monday as their nearest rivals Karachi Blues suffered a shock loss against Larkana.

Both teams began their fifth and last round matches with 28 points but Faisalabad earned another six by virtue of this victory which was inspired by Ali Raza’s unbeaten 107 off 133 balls with eight fours and one six as they chased down a target of 173 in 41.3 overs.

Karachi Blues, meanwhile, failed in their chase for 191 when they were dismissed for 171 to enable Larkana complete a shock 19-run victory at the NBP Sports Complex with Nadir Ali claiming five wickets for 67 runs.

Rawalpindi made it the next stage of the completion by topping Group ‘B’ with 32 points after centuries from Wahidullah (an undefeated 165 off 235 balls, 24 fours) and Hasnain Ahmed (155 off 225, 20 fours and two sixes) steered them to 3892 after following-on against Sialkot at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala.

Holders Karachi Whites warmed up for the triangular event with a crushing 444-run defeat of Azad Jammu Kashmir at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium to comfortably top Group ‘C’ with 40 points.
