KARACHI: Commuters faced hardship in travelling to and fro from the Gulistan-i-Jauhar locality of the metropolis due to a protest reportedly by members of the Shia community against removal of sabeels by local government authorities.

Social media users have uploaded pictures and videos of the traffic jam from the locality. Commuters have been reportedly stuck for hours in the logjam.

Commuters reported a severe traffic jam from Jauhar Chowrangi area till Jauhar Mor.

Social media pages, administered by the Shia community, posted pictures of the protest by members of the community.

The protestors demanded that no restriction would be tolerated on processions, religious gatherings and water stalls.

The traffic snarl up also lead to heavier congestion on major thoroughfares connecting to the Gulistan-i-Jauhar area.

Karachi is prone to massive traffic jams on its major roads due to protests.
