PESHAWAR: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and PHF secretary Shahbaz Ahmed have expressed grief over the death of father of former Pakistan captain Hassan Sardar.

Hassan Sardar, who was a legendary centre forward and ranked among the game’s all-time greats, played a stellar role in Pakistan hockey’s remarkable successes during the first half of the 1980s.

Pakistan won the 1982 World Cup, 1984 Olympics, 1982 Asia Cup and 1982 Asian Games with Hassan winning the Player of the Tournament award at all the four events apart from scoring in each of the final as well.

PHF president and secretary prayed may the Almighty rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
