KARACHI: Talented athletes from Steel Cadet College and City School PAF hogged the limelight in the Independence Day and Defence Day Inter-school and Inter-college Athletics Relay Championship held in the city recently.

Nearly 1500 athletes from leading schools and colleges participated in the mega event organised by the Karachi Athletics Association in collaboration with the PSB.

Brilliant runner Amjad Ali won the 10,000 meters race in style followed by Azeem Khan who finished runner-up.

The inter-school boys competition was won by Steel Cadet College who secured 58 points while City School PAF with 24 points finished second. In the girls contests, City School PAF took the lead with 42 points while DHA Degree College for Women sec­ured runner-up with 31 points.

Inter-school junior relay competition for both boys and girls was won by City School PAF. In the other junior competitions top positions were secured by CAS School, Nasra School and Happy Home School respectively. President of Karachi Divisional Athle­tics Association and prominent industrialist Mehtab­uddin Chawla was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the cash prizes, trophies and certificates among the participants.

In the end, KAA and Karachi Olym­pic Association president Gohar Raza thanked the athletes and their parents for making the championship a resounding success.
