KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar on Friday said MQM-London is not the issue, the objective is to drive out MQM-Pakistan from Karachi.
"Controversial statements from the London Secretariat is not the issue, the intention is to sweep MQM from Karachi's political ground," claimed Sattar in a press conference.
The senior MQM leader also expressed serious concerns over the arrest of its Rabita Committee member, Gulfraz Khattak, who was arrested earlier on Friday from outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the metropolis.
"Khattak was implicated in provoking party activists and facilitating the inflammatory speech," said Sattar while referring to Altaf Hussain's earlier speech on August 22.
Sattar also demanded the authorities to arrest him along with the all the people nominated in the August 22 FIR.
"Do not arrest us one by one, take us all together," the MQM leader said.
Sattar also asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, interior minister, army chief and the director general Rangers to not just warmly shake hands with them, but also act in the same manner.
Sattar also warned the political and military leadership of the country that they do have the option to resign from provincial and national legislative assemblies and quit the political process.
"We have the option to resign and if we did so, we would resign from all the assemblies," the MQM lawmaker said.
Earlier, MQM’s London-based leadership announced the expulsion of MQM Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar from the party in a statement shared by MQM leader Wasay Jalil.
Farooq Sattar in August sidelined MQM supremo Altaf Hussain after an anti-Pakistan rant which was followed by an attack on the ARY News office.
The MQM's London leadership has rejected the minus-Altaf formula, asserting that Altaf is still the party's uncontested chief.

All these tactical statements are to prepare an honorable excuse before tendering their resignations from all NA, PA and senate positions as ordered by their long time Supremo. Another example of Mohajir's being deprived of their basic right to do politics. MQM has no moral basis after they start to threaten the basis of Pakistan and its ideology or create environment of violence against the security agency, infrastructure and common people. There can be only one agency in the country that works for security and that is based on or a branch of official military organization. Carrying of arms, use and threats of arms or incendiary speech to encourage violence by party militants against common people state infrastructure or security agency is a crime and must be dealt with according to law. This is the basis of security and state apparatus in all countries. MQM is no exception.

I have pointed out that even with the change in leadership of MQM. The mindset against MQM is not letting them do politics in Urban Sindh which is their basic right. Farooq Sattar is a great and humble person no doubt but the grudge of the mindset is with entire MQM and millions of its followers. It doesn't matter if it is minus one or not.

@Khan USA altaf is sitting in London, read the constitution - a foreign leader living in a foreign country cannot run a political party in Pakistan. That's why mqm is actually run by Farooq Sattar, so altaf ticket doesn't really exist it's actually a Farooq ticket since he ran away 20 years ago

MQM is and MQM was the only political party of most educated and decent people of Pakistan living in Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore. MQM consists of 99% educated people where as other parties are of Tribal leaders parties with big business men and Jagidar/Wadera. All other parties bag their vote due to caste, tribe and religious basis.

Farooq Sattar has hit it on the head. If it was indeed Karachi which was supposed to be the beneficiary of this operation then once the law and order was under reasonable control, attention should have been turned to administrative and civic improvement of the city which has gone to dogs under the rural dominated ppp government. Instead the elected mayor of even the moth eaten KMC remains under bars for patently absurd charges. The aim just remains, in classic colonial style, to divide and rule brazenly.

@newpak Altaf is a Pakistani too ! Zardari is leading PPP from Dubai and Nawaz led PML N for ten years from Saudi Arabia , so whats wrong with it . You guys had problem with Altaf when he was in Karachi and you guys conspired to force him to leave the country . This guy is a charismatic leader leading his people in exile since last twenty four years and you still deny his abilities . There is no leader comparable to him for his courage and political wisdom . He is the Nelson Mandella of Muhajirs nation who has faced the brutalities of unprecedented level and his whole family was murdered to make him silent but he did not stop working for his people . Thousands of LB members , hundreds of UC chairmen , Mayors , 25 MNAs , 56 MPAs and 8 Senators is no joke . No other leader could get elected this much people on just his account !
