LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday said that conspiracies to hinder the process of development under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will not succeed and the federal capital will remain open on October 30.

"Islamabad would remain open on October 30 despite Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf's (PTI) plan to hold a protest sit-in in the federal capital," said the speaker.

Sadiq added that the city as well as all business activity will continue and conspiracies of scaring away investors will fail.

Earlier, PTI chairman Imran Khan called on party workers to lay siege to Islamabad on Oct 30, telling them to stay put until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns or presents himself for accountability in the backdrop of the Panama Papers leaks.

The PTI leader said that if the prime minister didn’t meet his party’s demands, he wouldn’t let PM Sharif continue running the government.

“A detailed modus operandi will be released afterwards.”

The PTI leader added that he knew the people of the twin cities would have to face inconvenience again, but said, “you have to face it if you want our future generations to live honourable lives.”
