ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed death sentences awarded to 10 hardcore terrorists who were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, including killing of innocent civilians, polio workers, NGO employees, police officials and personnel of armed forces, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.
These convicts were tried by military courts. They admitted to their offences before magistrates and trial courts. They all were members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
According to the ISPR, following are details of the convicts.
Mohammad Shahid Omar: he was involved in the killing of two female workers of a polio vaccination team, 11 employees of an NGO and several civilians. He was also involved in attacks on law enforcement personnel which resulted in death and injuries to police officials and soldiers.
Hussain Shah: he was involved in attacks in which Major Mustafa, Capt Waseem and several other soldiers were killed and many other soldiers were injured.
Zafar Iqbal: he was involved in attacks which resulted in the death of Subedar Awal Khan and Naik Azmat Ullah of the Frontier Constabulary and injury to police ASI Chanar Gul and Sepoy Shafique of the Frontier Constabulary. Security personnel seized firearms and explosives from him.
Anwer Zeb: he was involved in the abduction of retired Lieutenant Colonel Khaqqan Afzal and killing of retired SI Umar Ghani and a civilian. Firearms and explosives were found in his possession.
Obaidur Rehman: he was involved in the killing of civilians. Security personnel seized explosives from him.
Sher Alam: he was involved in attacks on law enforcement personnel and killing of civilians. Fire arms and explosives were found in his possession.
Atta Ullah, Mushtaq Khan and Asghar Khan: these three convicts were involved in attacks in which several law enforcement personnel were killed and Captain Asif was injured. Fire arms and explosives were seized from their possession.
Shamsul Qamar: he was involved in attacks which resulted in death of some police officials and injuries to some civilians.
