JHANG: The District Bar Association (DBA) has, through a resolution, expressed its concern over delay in commencement of educational activities in the newly-established Jhang University even after the announcement of BA results.
Another cause for consternation stated in the resolution is that although the chancellor had given the additional charge of VC to Faisalabad University’s head for six months, the Higher Education Department has not issued an NOC to allow launch of the classes nor has the required amount been approved by the chancellors’ committee.
The DBA says the residents of Jhang are at the receiving end of injustice as an agriculture university, Government Polytechnic College and Daanish schools’ projects had not been undertaken despite approval.
The lawyers have also protested the government’s failure to draw up a sewerage plan for the city. They demanded issuance of the NOC for the commencement of classes in Jhang University and disbursement of the amount.
PO KILLED: The Mochiwala police claim to have killed a proclaimed offender in an encounter at Chak 441.
A police team raided a place to arrest proclaimed offender Muhammad Younis, who was wanted by the Faisalabad and Jhang police in several heinous cases.
In an encounter that continued for three hours, police said, they shot at and injured the suspect and took him to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
