A ‘double-faced’ calf
An incredible rare ‘double-faced’ calf was born on a farm at Taylor County in Kentucky. The farmer, Stan McCubbin who owns the cow, admitted that he was stunned when he discovered the new arrival, and originally thought it was two twin calves lying together.
The animal has four eyes, but can only blink two. She also has two noses. And while she can stand up on all fours, she struggles to walk and often ends up trotting around in circles before falling over. Both of her mouths also move at the same time.
The family has named the calf Lucky, and Stan admits he is not sure how many days she has left with. He said: “I’m just thinking, ‘How many days do we have?’ and I mean, it’s a blessing that we get to go through this with our children and our family and it’s just something unique and rare. Lucky has now become somewhat of a celebrity on the farm, with locals across town to get a good look at her.”
Perfect for kids!
Children can sometimes be fussy, uncommunicative and outright annoying, especially when it comes to their eating habits. So one restaurant had a brilliant idea for all those parents desperate to get their kids to eat something.
And the restaurant adapted a menu to a child’s mood. Providing the perfect antithesis to those surly mumbles of ‘I don’t care’, ‘I don’t want that’ and classic ‘I’m not hungry’ is the restaurant’s approach to kids’ menu.
An image of it was posted on Imgur, and we can definitely see the appeal of such a restaurant. Finally, after all these years,
‘I don’t know’ and ‘I don’t care’ can be turned into something definitive and we can all move on from the epic sulk we’ve been treated to.
Yoga with goats, let’s go!
Yoga is calming, you feel all ‘at one’ with your body, and you get to be all smug about being a person who does yoga. It’s all brilliant.
But the idea of doing yoga while goats casually walk around you is somewhat beyond one’s imagination. However, not for a farm in Willamette Valley, Oregon, as it is now offering people the opportunity to do their daily yoga with goats.
‘The Goat Retreat’ was set up by former professional photographer Lainey Morse, who wanted to start a new business based on her farm. When a local yoga instructor was searching for a place for her classes, Lainey offered up her farm — along with the goats that live there.
Now, to be clear, the goats don’t actually participate in the yoga, yet they are there for moral support and believe it or not, preventing you from getting bored midway through all that deep-breathing.
People doing yoga on the farm think animals can really help humans with stress and illness or grief.
Vending machine that dispenses short stories
Whether you are waiting for the bus, train or plane, there’s nothing worse than forgetting your book and if you are lucky enough to have the internet signals on your smartphone, then you can go through various things to kill your time!
To drive away boredom, free short story vending machines are installed in France. The idea was trialled a year ago in the country’s Grenoble train station, where it went down so well that they decided to roll it out across more stations.
You simply choose your wait-time — one, three or five minutes — and the machine will dispense a story accordingly. All for free. The stories are all printed on paper, and topics range from children’s stories to lyrical poetry.
The authors of the stories are all anonymous and over 5,000 have submitted stories. The machines have been installed at 24 train stations all over France, with plans to introduce them at a further 11 by the end of the year.
