LAHORE: Around 150 players from all over Pakistan are taking part in the first ZTBL National Junior Tennis Championships which commences at the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) courts here on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference along with ZTBL Sports MD Col Khalid Rafiq here on Friday, PLTA secretary and Pakistan coach Rashid Malik said competitions will be held in different age groups.
Giving details of the entries, Rashid said 48 players will be contesting in under-18 category, 30 in U-14 category, 24 in U-12 category, 12 in U-10 and 16 will be vying in the girls section.
He said the PLTA would also host two international tennis events after the junior championship.
“The purpose of holding these events is to promote the game at the grass-roots level,” Rashid said.
