KARACHI: Fifteen matches — five apiece at three centres — will mark the revival of the long awaited Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) Inter-club hockey tournament on Sunday.

“Forty nine teams have entered into the competition which will be played on the knockout basis, the KHA secretary Syed Haider Hussain said on Saturday

He said the matches will be played at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium, (formerly Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium), Dr M. A. Shah-Islahuddin Academy and the Customs Sports Complex.

He informed that five teams — Hanif Khan hockey club, National hockey club, Beecham hockey club, Jan Mohammad XI and Rauf X1 — have been given byes.

Former Olympian goalkeeper Qamar Zia has been appointed as tournament director.
