KARACHI: Right winger Ehtisham caught the eye by slamming first double hat-trick as Mohammad Ali hockey club humbled Akbar Bhatti XI 10-1 on the opening day of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) Inter-club hockey tournament at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium (formerly Hockey Club of Pakistan) on Sunday.

Ehtisham slammed six of the total 10 goals to steal the limelight.

Inside right Shahbaz and full back Babar also struck one hat-trick apiece in Baldia hockey club’s massive 14-0 victory over Bahadurabad Club in another match at the same venue.

The former scored four goals while the latter contributed three.

In other matches, Rajput XI scored 6-1 victory over Karachi Spartan, Airport Club was home 2-0 over Al Saadat Club and Habibian hockey club thumped Nawab XI 8-2.

At the Customs Sports Complex, Zaheer XI defeated Colony Sports by tennis score 6-0, Naval Star hockey club overcome Malir Gymkhana 3-2, Badruddin Club defeated Central Fitness Club 2-1, Cantt Combined outplayed Sherwani Motors 8-0 and Iftikhar Syed Club carved out 4-0 victory over PIH Club.

At the Dr. M. A. Shah-Islahuddin Academy, Hammad steered Al Sagheer club to a 7-0 victory over Habibian HPS Club. Hammad scored four goals.

In the other matches, Al Faisal Club bulldozed Pak Flag Club 10-0, Al Sagheer Club Whites defeated Siraj XI 4-1, Waheed Club inflicted 7-0 defeat on Karachi Youngsters and Gulberg Club defeated Karachi Tigers 5-3 on penalty shootout after being tied three-all in stipulated time.

Monday’s fixtures:

At Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium: Ghulamane Abbas club v Telecom Gymkhana at 1.30pm; Iqbal XI v Nazimabad Club at 3pm; Korangi Academy v PWD at 4.30pm.

At Customs Sports Complex: YMCA v Mahmood XI at 1.30pm; United Gymkhana v Pak Capital at 3pm; Police Boys v Federal Sports at 4.30pm.
