KARACHI: Hat-trick hero Ali Hasan helped Gulberg Hockey Club overcome fighting Dr. Badruddin Hockey Club 3-2 to surge into the second round of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) Inter-club Hockey Tournament at the Customs Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Inside right Hasan shone for the winners scoring all the three goals. Iqbal netted two goals for the losing side.

Earlier, Airport Hockey Club swept aside Zaheer XI 7-3. Shadab, Arif and Nadeem shared six goals among themselves while Muzammil scored the seventh.

Usama and Saad scored two and one goal respectively for the losers.

Iftikhar Syed Academy overwhelmed Cantt Combined 10-0. Adil Askari, Khurram and Mahmood slammed two goals apiece while Usama, Mohsin, Mohsin Jr and Shahzeb Jr added one each to complete the rout.

Baldia Hockey Club defeated SRC hockey club 5-4 in a keenly fought match played at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium. Nasir scored two while Shahid Nazir, Adil and Shahid Jr added one goal apiece for the winners. Asghar, Ali Mehdi, Iqbal and Ali scored one each for the losers.

In another match, Rajput Hockey Club carved out an emphatic 4-2 victory over Mohammad Ali Hockey Club.

Kamran Ather, Kamran, Asad Rauf and Ahmed slammed one goal each for the winners while Ismail Kamran scored twice for the losers.

Sultan and Imran Malik scored one goal apiece to guide Pak PWD to 2-1 victory over Telecom Hockey Club.

Hamza scored the losers’ only goal.

At Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium: United Gymkhana v Baldia Eagle Hockey Club at 1.30pm; Habibian Hockey Club v Waheed XI at 3pm; Baldia Club v Police Boys at 4.30pm.

At Customs Sports Complex: Al Sagheer Hockey Club Colours v Al Faisal Hockey Club at 1.30pm; Nazimabad Hockey Club v Mahmood XI at 3pm; Al Sagheer Hockey Club Whites v Naval Star Hockey Club at 4.30pm.
