PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court’s protocol officer, Abbas Gardezi, and his brother-in-law, Sheharyar Khan, who had died in a road accident on Monday, were laid to rest at their ancestral graveyard here on Tuesday.

Their funeral prayers were held at Taj Abad area attended by people from different walks of life, including judges, lawyers, journalists, teachers, who prayed to Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and provide courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss.

Prominent among the participants were the PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, senior puisine judge Justice Yahya Afridi, other judges of the high court and subordinate judiciary and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Ehtesab Commissioner Retired Justice Hamid Farooq Durrani.

The deceased along with official driver, Behram Khan, were killed when their car skidded away on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway on Monday night while going to Islamabad.

The funeral of Behram was held in Kohat. The Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and officials of the high court attended his funeral prayers.
