KARACHI, Dec 12: President Pervez Musharraf said on Friday that the government would create Gwadar Port Authority to look after the development of the port.

He was speaking at the induction of three oil tankers in Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) on-board MT Johar at Keamari.

He said both Gwadar Port Authority and Gwadar Development Authority would also look after the issues of tourism, environment and town planning within their jurisdiction.

He said the future of Gwadar was very bright and it would contribute to the economic and maritime activities of Pakistan.

“We are planning to develop an international port at Gwadar. We have created a Gwadar Development Authority and plan to create a Gawadar Port Authority like KPT and KDA,” he said.

He said construction of Gwadar Port and Coastal Highway would give a boost to this region and the country in general.—APP
