LARKANA: SHC sets three detainees free

LARKANA, Dec 12: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit, released three villagers, who were illegally detained by Nasirabad police on Friday . The bench comprised Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice S.Ali Aslam Jafri.

Those freed included—— Mohammad Yaseen Massan, Abdul Sattar and Rajib Ali Shaikh the resident of Naudero town. The sub-inspector police Sikandar Ali Malkani and ASI Nazir Ahmed Pirzado produced the detainees in the court and failed to produce any substantial evidence showing their arrest. The court ordered their immediate release. However, the hearing in another identical case was adjourned till January 15.

On Thursday two raiding parties of the Sindh High Court, circuit bench, Larkana raided Nasirabad police station and recovered four persons, who were kept in illegal detention.

Mohammad Saleh Massan, a resident of Nasirabad, had lodged a complaint with the division bench alleging that police have arrested his brother Mohammad Yasin on 6 December and since then was kept in the police station in illegal confinement.

The court appointed Ghulam Shabir Mirani as raid commissioner who during the search found not only Muhammad Yaseen Massan in the lock-up but also Abdul Sattar and Rajib Ali Shaikh the resident of Naudero town for which police had no valid documents of arrest . Mohammad Yusuf Panhwar, another raid commissioner searched the same police station following the complaint of Mohammad Anwar Kandhro, regarding the detention of Akhtair Ali. He was not present at the police station. However others in the lock-up told him that police have just before the raid shifted the detainee to an unknown place. When the case came up for hearing on Friday, police denied of having arrested Akhtiar Ali Kandhro, while the complainant was pressing that the police had shifted his brother to an unspecified place.

PROCESSION: Mechanics and auto parts dealers took out a procession in Ratodero here the other day against the robbery of a wagon by four armed men.

Led by Auto Parts Dealers Union president Yusuf Ghanghro, the protesters also staged a sit-in outside the Ratodero police station.

The DSP talked to the protestors and assured them that the wagon would be recovered.

On Sunday night, the armed men broke into the garage of Lal Bakhsh Khokhar in Ratodero and made hostage Hadi Baksh Chandio, Shafique Samo, Munwar Ali Abbasi, Ali Jan Chandio and Munwar Samo.

The outlaws took away a wagon (R-0217) of Rehmatullah Veesar along with the five labourers. The hostages were later released near the Tayyab village.
