Qamar-uz-Zaman Shah

AMONGST the few remaining, there goes another Bhutto companion. Senator Syed Qamaruz Zaman Shah remained in a coma for nearly seven years before he finally said good bye to his family.

He had refused to interrupt his life line until God Almighty willed it so. That made him a lucky man for the strong family bond he managed to create in today’s rat race.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and three sons.

The eldest, Syed Naveed Qamar an outstanding politiciann. His second son, a leading cardiologist, is the executive director of NICVD. Youngest son Syed Miran Mohammad Shah is a practising lawyer. And, finally, his grandson MPA Syed Qasim Shah is adviser to the Sindh government.

So, Syed Qamar-uz-Zaman Shah, a contented father, a politician, a good agriculturist and his keen interest in the field even led him to become the president of the Sindh Agriculture Chamber of Commerce, a position that was later interestingly filled by his son Dr Syed Nadeem Qamar. Qamaruz Zaman Shah will be for the company he kept, his style and his hospitality.
