3,000 get free treatment at army medical camp in Chhachhro

HYDERABAD: About 3,000 people received medical treatment and medicines free of cost at the army special free medical camp organised by the Pakistan Army, Hyderabad Garrison, at Chhachhro town in Thar on Thursday.

The camp carried out clinical tests and examinations of people, paid special attention to pregnant women and provided them additional vitamins in view of prevalent malnutrition among the poor desert dwellers.

According to a press release issued here, the free camp at Chhachhro was part of a series of free medical camps which were planned to be held in Chhachhro, Mithi, Diplo, Nagarparkar, Parchi ji Veeri, Gadra and Khensar, small towns of Tharparkar and Umerkot districts during November.

The camp at Chhachhro started serving people from Oct 31 and would continue till Nov 4. A similar camp would be organised in Mithi on Nov 5-9, in Diplo on Nov 10-14, in Nagarparkar on Nov 15-19, in Parchi Ji Veeri on Nov 20-24 and in Gadra and Khensar on Nov 25-29, said the press release.

Experienced doctors, including gynaecologists, paediatricians, lady doctors and paramedical staff, were conducting clinical examinations of patients and handing out medicines to them free of cost, it said.

It said the free camps were equipped with the state-of-the-art clinical laboratories and ambulances which could drive deep into the desert to reach remote villages and provide free medical facility to people at their doorsteps.

The army doctors and paramedical staff were also assigned the task to provide training in healthcare of mother and child to paramedics, lady health visitors, midwives and lady health workers of Sindh health department on modern lines.
