Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani on Friday said that an inquiry of former information minister Pervaiz Rashid will go through the parliament.
"Designations are temporary, the way he [Rashid] handled his responsibilities was exemplary and the upper house stands with him," said Rabbani.
"Judges are inquired under Article 209 and the personnel of the armed forces are also inquired under the departmental law, hence if Pervaiz Rasheed undergoes any investigation it should be through the Senate's Ethics Committee," he added.
The Senate chairman also said that if Pervaiz Rasheed wishes he can raise the demand of an investigation under the laws of Senate.
Last week, Information Minister Parvaiz Rasheed resigned from his position as Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.
The development came after the publication of Dawn's story "Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military", which reported details of a high level civil-military meeting discussing the issue of Pakistan's banned outfits.

Pervaiz Rashid first surrender his membership of nat assrbly and should stand trial in court of law. Parlament cant decide cases and impose verdicts.

Among the top leaders of the PPP, Raza Rabbani is the only statesman of international stature, the only sincere believer in meaningful federalism and the only clean and honest person.
By the way, the PPP may have a chance of revival, if any, only under the Chairmanship of Senator Raza Rabbani.

We all should appreciate the Courage of Senate Chairman. Why a Political worker should go through an army inquiry. Should Army allow his Personal to go through a Judicial court? This should be stopped and we all should stand for that. I salute Raza Rabani for his stand.

If it is crime. It does not need to go through the parliment for investigation and punishment. This is the job of pilice/investigatiion beurue and courts for the final phase of bifitting centense for treason and betraying the confidence and trust of nation to malign the reputation of the land and army safegarding the land with sacrifice

Nothing tangible achieved so far by Senate. Even so far Senate failed to address the deseases of corruptions deeply in routed in politicians in particular,and in society in general.The recent diatribes,betrayal,of nation and armed forces by some irresponsible politicians have created anger in minds of people, and Senate must address the situation if it can.Senate must prefer the 20 crore people interest,not the few individuals.

Senator Pervaiz Rasheed is an scape goat,and he willingly sacrificed himself on behest of his elite elders .He simply does not have courage to indulge Senate inquiry into this episode.However if some legislator file a case in SC,maybe SC could take up the case being of national security importance,or SC may take suo moto,the matter is in limbo,and armed forces are awaiting action to remaining accused which so far the Govt failed.
