TAXILA: Elections on reserved seats in the District Council Attock will be held on November 15, in which 71 union council (UC) chairmen will be voting, said Assistant Director Local Government Jahangir Mirza on Monday.

Talking to newsmen, he said the women who will be contesting the elections include nine from the PML-N, eight from the PML-Q and two from the PTI.

Contesting the elections with a PML-N ticket and with the election symbol of a lion are Amna Bibi, Tausifa Gulnaz, Shaheen Bibi, Safia Begum, Asma Bibi, Farhat Nisar Malik, Farida Bibi, Nazir Bibi and Noor Jahan.

Those contesting the elections with a PML-Q ticket and with the election commission of a bicycle are Eman Tahir, Khatoon Bibi, Resham Jan, Sabiha Nazli, Fauzia, Munawar Sultan, Nuzhat Sultan and Noor Jahan Akram.

The two PTI contestants, who will be contesting the elections with the election symbol of a bat are Bibi Farzana and Riffat Shaheen.

Mr Mirza said that six candidates will be contesting for the three peasants seats including Asif Ali Khan and Ansar Ahmed from the PML-N, independent candidate Sheikh Mehmood Elahi and Ansaar Mehmood, Malik Hameed Akbar Khan and Nusrat Mehmood from the Major Group.

He said those contesting for the single seat for technocrats are PML-N’s Sajjad Ahmed Khan, PML-Q’s Mohammad Aslam and PTI’s Malik Mohammad Akram Awan.

Eman Tahir, who is running for the reserved seat for women is a former MNA and is the daughter of former District Nazim Attock Major Tahir Sadiq.
