LAHORE: Wapda with five gold medals, one silver and two bronze aggregated 155 points to successfully defend the title at the 10th National Women Karate Championships here on Wednesday.

Balochistan secured the runners-up trophy with 75 points, seizing two gold, three silver and one bronze medals. Pakistan Army remained third (70) bagging one gold, three silver and one bronze.

Meanwhile, titles of three weight categories in kumite were decided.

In below 61kg, Army’s Sana Kausar won the first gold medal for her department. Ayesha Amjad of Punjab earned silver while Fatima Furqan of Sindh and Wapda’s Nargis got bronze.

In below 55kg, Mahnoor Toheed of Punjab clinched gold medal, Naz Gul of Wapda secured silver while Sindh’s Arfa Farshad and Suriya of Railways got bronze.

In below 50kg, Fatima of Balochistan won gold while Army’s Anosha Khan secured silver. Fata’s Maheen Babar and Suriya of Railways got bronze.

In the team kumite event, Wapda won gold, Army seized silver while teams from Punjab and Sindh claimed third position.
