GUJRANWALA: Nandipur power plant’s former chief security officer (CSO) Rana Mehtab Alam Khan manged to escape from district courts premises after cancellation of his pre-arrest bail in the furnace oil record torching case on Wednesday.
The accused had first secured a pre-arrest bail in the case from the Lahore High Court after the water and power ministry suspended him from service and directed police to arrest him.
The bail was later transferred to the district and sessions court.
The additional sessions judge Jamshed Bhatti extended his pre-arrest bail several times due to lawyers’ strike and other reasons, while Aroop Town police sought cancellation of the bail granted to Mr Khan.
On Wednesday, when the court cancelled his pre-arrest bail, the accused managed to escape.
Aroop Town SHO Khurram Shahzad said police were conducting raids to arrest him.
