Colourful thread bracelets look super fantastic. As they are so stylish, they go with any dress one wears. Sometimes they become a signature style and sometimes friends wear the same kind of bracelets to show off their friendship.

That’s why we are going to make a wonderful bracelet today that is not going to cost you much either. As there are so many ways and, designs to make these bracelets (which we’ll be doing in the future), we have chosen a relatively easy design for now and it’s called the ‘spiral’ friendship bracelet.

Things you need

  1. Four or five different coloured cotton yarns or embroidery floss.

  2. Scissors

  3. A button

Directions

  1. Put all four colour threads together and cut at about 40 inches (pic 2).

  2. Fold the threads in half and make the knot slightly above the end to make the button closure (pic 3 and 4). You now have eight threads with two of same colour (in case of four colours).

  3. It’s time to start forward knotting. Choose one thread and pull it to your left making a four (4) over the rest of the seven strings (pic 5).

  4. Pull the thread under the remaining strings, all the way up to make a forward knot (pic 6). Repeat the steps as long as you want that colour segment.

  5. Switch the colour by leaving the one you were knotting with the rest of the threads and pick the other colour and continue making the forward knots (pic 7); keep switching the colours in the same way (pic 8).

  6. So when you reach the desired length (mostly it is 7-8 inches), make a final knot (pic 9).

  7. Now take any one string from the bracelet and thread it to the button and make two to three tight knots to secure it (pic 10, 11, 12). You can choose any button, whether heart, flower, star or smiley, whatever easily available to you.

  8. Cut the rest of the threads carefully (pic 13). Your beautiful spiral bracelet is ready!

Note: If you want your bracelet to be thicker, use more thread strings, such as six or eight (I used four). And if you want it to be thinner you can take three. However, if you want single-coloured ‘spiral’ bracelet then you will take two or three same-coloured thread pieces and switch them in between (just like I did for colour switch) this will automatically create the spiral.
