LAHORE: Former Davis Cupper and Pakistan coach Rashid Malik grabbed third title when he won the plus 45 age category singles title in the Long Beach ITF World Senior Tennis Ranking tournament at the Bagh-i-Jinnah courts here on Saturday.

Rashid outplayed Israr Gul in the final 7-6, 6-3. After a gruelling fight in the first set, Rashid showed more stamina and skillful play to win the second set quite easily. He also succeeded in winning the doubles’ events of plus 45 and plus 35 too.

In the 35 plus singles final, Fayyaz Khan annexed the title, beating Shahzad Khan 6-4, 6-4. It was an easy victory for Fayyaz as Shahzad failed to resist considerably throughout the final.

On the other hand, the pair of Asad Niaz and Waqar Nisar won the 60 plus final after trouncing the Rao Iftikhar and Rai Zahid duo 6-2, 6-3 in a one-sided affair.
