Pakistanis are in for a rare supermoon sighting on Monday Nov 14 at 6:52pm, where the moon will appear 14 per cent bigger and 30pc brighter than a normal full moon.
This will be the largest, brightest full moon in nearly seven decades, and promises Earth-bound sky-watchers a celestial spectacle. The next supermoon will be spotted in 2034.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Friday said that if skies are clear, the moon will be clearly visible, and explained the phenomena by saying that the orbit of the moon around the Earth is elliptical, not circular, which causes a change in distance between the two.
The supermoon was sighted yesterday In Australia, United States and Mexico.

The moon sighting committee should perform its duty every month to have the right yearly counting of the Islamic calendar as tonight it is full moon by all standards but in Pakistan it is being counted as 14th instead of 15th...

@Ahmed bin Babar
Sorry but you are incorrect.
Today, during the day it was 14th Safar in Pakistan. After sunset it became the 15th and this is the period the moon had waxed to its maximum. So the rooh et hilal committee in Pakistan is correct and our friends in Saudi Arabia are wrong. The reason is simple: the new day in the Islamic calendar always begins at Maghrib not midnight, fajr or sunrise!

In Brossard, Quebec, Canada, we watched the "super moon", 14% bigger and 30% higher, compared to the normal moon. This is according to the astronomers. Again, according to them, next "super moon" is predicted to happen in 2034.

I saw the same supermoon in Mumbai. If we can share the same moon, why do we not share peace and happiness between our two countries?
