SAHIWAL: University of Sahiwal acting vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Rauf Azam has appointed Dr Shafiq Husain acting campus director, who is also the campus director of the distance learning centre at the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Sahiwal sub-campus.

The development highlights that the Sahiwal University faculty is merely incapable of running the campus.

Last month, the Punjab government gave Dr Azam the additional charge of the Sahiwal University, and it was the third public university under his charge.

Dr Azam is already serving as acting VC of the University of Okara, whereas he is the VC of the University of Education, Lahore.

Instead of selecting some of the faculty as campus director, the VC preferred someone from another campus for the Sahiwal University.

The Punjab government also upgraded the Sahiwal sub campus of the Bahauddin Zakariya University as an autonomous public university in 2014. Since then, the university has not got its full time VC.
