DADU: Three members of the Khoso tribe were killed and three others wounded in a clash between two groups in Khanoth town, situated about 24 kilometres from Sann town, on Tuesday.

Officials at the Khanoth police station said that the two groups had been at odds over the agricultural and forest land within the Rajri forest area for some time. On Tuesday, they said, armed men belonging to the rival groups traded fire which left three persons dead and three others wounded.

The police identified the deceased victims as Piaro, Sain Bukhsh and Urs. The wounded victims were rushed to the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) hospital in Jamshoro where they were admitted for treatment.

Jamshoro SSP retired Captain Tariq Walyat said that police had been deployed in the troubled area to maintain law and order. He said police teams led by Khanoth DSP and SHO carried out raids at several places within the Rajri forest area after the clash and picked up three suspects from their houses. He said the suspects were believed to be involved in the armed clash. A hunt was on for more suspects, he added.
