LAHORE: The 5th National Rescue Challenge concluded at the Emergency Services Academy here on Thursday.
National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) executive director Zulfiqar Cheema was the chief guest in the concluding ceremony.
The District Emergency Services Gujranwala won the challenge, district Rawalpindi remained second while Rahim Yar Khan team got the third position.
Fourteen rescue teams from Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and rescue wardens from Sialkot and Lahore universities participated in seven challenges, including trauma, firefit, water rescue, swimming, deep well rescue and height rescue challenges.
Congratulating the participants, Punjab Emergency Service director general Dr Rizwan Naseer said the rescue challenge was an opportunity for all emergency services of Punjab districts and other provinces to enhance their professional skills.
Mr Zulfiqar Cheema lauded Dr Naseer’s services in establishing Rescue 1122. He pledged that the NAVTTC would conduct training of drivers.
ESA Director General retired Brig Amir Hamza, Event Supervisor Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Provincial Monitoring Officer Mian Riffat Zia and other rescue officers were present.
