MARDAN: Provincial minister Mohammad Atif Khan and deputy speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mehar Taj Rughani distributed Sehat Sahulat Cards among poor families of Mardan district here on Thursday.

In this regard, a function was held in the Pakhtunkhwa House which was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPAs Zahid Khan Durrani, Iftikhar Mashwani and Tufail Anjum and tehsil nazim Ayub Khan besides a number of heads of poor families.

Speaking on the occasion, Atif Khan claimed that Insaf Sehat Sahulat Programme was a revolutionary scheme of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led provincial government to facilitate poor people of the province.

“Free of cost health facilities will be provided to the 51 per cent of population of the province through this scheme,” he claimed. He said that the Sehat Sahulat Cards were being distributed among 104,000 poor families of the district. According to the programme, health expenses of up to Rs540,000 would be paid annually by the government for treatment and other related facilities to each poor family in government and private hospitals, he said.

Similarly, the minister said that free delivery treatment and transport expenses of up to Rs1,000 would also be provided to the patient in case of discharge from hospital. In case of common disease, the card-holder could be admitted for three days in a hospital with provision of free treatment along with medicines and Rs250 cash.

He said that Sehat Sahulat Cards had been distributed among poor families across the province without any political discrimination.

The education minister said that the government was spending Rs21 billion on provision of necessary facilities in schools of the province. “We have spent Rs4 billion on provision of chairs to 1.4 million students for sitting in their classrooms,” he said.

He said that they had acquired land for the establishment of the first cadet college for girls in Mardan, while classes would be started soon in a rented building.

The ceremony was also addressed by Mehar Taj Rughani and PTI MPAs. They highlighted different programmes launched by the government.
