Unidentified gunmen on Friday kidnapped three officials of Pakistan Customs from Balochistan’s Gwadar district.

“Gunmen seized the vehicle of customs officials at Zero Point in Pasni tehsil of Gwadar,” said Tufail Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar.

Among those kidnapped was Inspector Abdul Malik, constables Muhammad Yaqoob and Hafeez.

Police and levies personnel reached the spot and started an initial investigation in to the incident.

Following the kidnapping, security was tightened at all entry and exit points to aid in the recovery of the kidnapped individuals.

There has been no claim of responsibility.

'CPEC is a game changer'

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Friday said that maintaining internal peace and cordial relations with neighbouring Afghanistan is imperative to make the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a success.

“CPEC is a game changer,” said Achakzai.

The PkMAP chief was addressing a rally in Balochistan’s Pishin.

“All provinces must have constitutional powers on their coast and resources and indigenous people must be benefited from their resources.”

Referring to the parliament and the constitution, he said supremacy of the parliament and constitution will ensure a prosperous Pakistan.

“Armed forces should never indulge in electioneering and political affairs of the country,” said the veteran politician.

The CPEC project — with an investment of $46 billion and the Gwadar port as its lynchpin — will be a real game-changer and manifestation of strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
