ISLAMABAD: Wapda and Pakistan Air Force will face each other in the final of the Chief of Air Staff National Kabaddi Championship after both teams won their semi-finals here on Friday at the Jinnah Stadium of Pakistan Sports Complex.

The national champions PAF moved into the final after defeating SNGPL in a well-fought match as both teams exhibited brilliant performance. After a tough fight, PAF beat SNGPL 48-42 as Irfan Jatt, Lala Abdullah and Waqas Jutt played brilliantly.

Waseem Kambo, Zafar Iqbal and Nadeem Sajjad showed excellent performance for the SNGPL side. It was one of the best matches of the tournament as both teams gave tough time to each other.

In the second semi-final of the day that turned to be the best match of the tournament, Wapda defeated Pakistan Army 46-41 with Wapda’s Khalid Bhatti, Khalid Mahar, Mohsin and Hira Butt playing leading roles in the victory.

Ali Shan, Rana Naeem and Shakeel Jutt put excellent show for Pakistan Army but they could not save their team from defeat.

“All four teams played brilliantly as today’s matches were outstanding,” said Pakistan Kabaddi Federation secretary Mohammad Sarwar.

Wapda Sports Board, Lahore Director General retired Col Raja Asif Mehdi Khan, Pakistan Sports Board DG Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera were among those who witnessed the thrilling semi-finals.

The final will be played on Saturday at same venue while the third position match will be held between SNGPL and Pakistan Army.
