KARACHI: District East and district South completed the semi-final quartet by attaining top two slots respectively in pool “A” of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Cup basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Tuesday District West and Mirpurkhas have already propelled into the last four from pool “B” a day earlier.

District East cruised to an emphatic 54-23 victory over district South on the last day of the league.

Except for the third quarter in which both the teams scored 13 points apiece, district East completely dominated the remaining part of play enjoying 16-3, 11-4, and 14-3 lead in the first, second and fourth quarters.

Shahmir top scored with 17 and was followed by Atif and Zia who contribuited 10 points apiece for the winners.

Jazib and Asad scored seven points each while Zain-ul-Abedin scored five for the losers.

In an earlier match of academic interest, district Malir notched up their first victory when they humbled Quetta 65-24.

The winners led 28-12 points at half time.

District East is drawn to face Mirpurkhas while district South takes on district West in the two semi-finals on Thursday. The final will be played the following day.
