same criterion and pay scales should be offered to other government departments like in education and health which are even more important than army for the stability of the country and welfare of the nation. army will only be needed if there is a nation intact. a teacher who will produce dozens of generals in his life time should be paid more than a general.

People who do not deserve to rise above Colonel rank retire as Lt General and end up being son in law of Pakistan. The perks, the plots, the pensions, the privileges, the postings post retirement are the glue which keeps these men right behind the chief at times at odd with the interest of Pakistan

@Mansoor it is not as negative as you have put it. yes, military should keep away from politics. I will never approve of military role in politics. just like all institutions, military also needs to improve itself. but they deserve credit for their strengths too.

What's in it for a common man? Promotions, perks, and benefits being divided among the well-connected and powerful people in government, military. Nothing for a common man who pays for all their perks.

@MUrad you wont have teacher schools if ot wasemt the army to protect you from those who wanted to destroy you. Look what happened to baghdad when the mongols sacked and see what they said to them after they sacked it. You need to be military prepared against enemies. Also its the army schools that are providing their generals etc. Esp not public nd private schools which are riddled which corruption.

Civilians should learn from the military people are promoted based on merit. None of these men come from wealthy backgrounds they are all middle class and they earned their way up the ranks through devotion and hard work.

@Mansoor does that apply to those who died for this country against external and internal enemies, so people like you can live and be safe and write such views. For them, neither plots, pensions, perks or privileges mattered, it was only their countries safety that mattered and they gave up their tomorrow's for our today's. Be greatful, not hateful.

Congrates to all generals. However do always remember the jawans who stay sleepless the whole nights in trenches fighting within harsh climatic condition getting frost bites at -40 besides prone to bullets and shells by enemy at frontlines. We owe them a lot.

Congratulations! to all the newly appointed Lt General. I am indeed pleased with the promotion of DG Rangers who General Bilal who is doing a fantastic job in Karachi.
Furthermore; these promotions also lines the seniority list for the next COAS. Beside these seven newly appointed Lt Generals; there is only one Lt General whose retirement falls beyond the term of the present COAS hence it is most likely that these 8 Lt Generals would be the contenders for the next slot of COAS and CJCSC. Pakistan Army Zindabad! Pakistan Paeindabad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
