Asad, Ali clinch tennis titles

KARACHI: Asad Ali Bhagat and Reza Ali Mirza claimed 35-plus singles and 45-plus singles titles respectively in the 1st Karachi Gymkhana Toyota Pakistan Seniors Tennis Champ­ionship, which concluded here on Thursday.

Asad thrashed Kaleem Ghanchi in the final by 6-2, 6-3 while Ali blanked his opponent Tariq Jan Allahwala to register a fine 6-0, 6-0 victory.

In the 55-plus singlesfinal , Razi Nawab dropped a set before beating Karim Gul by 6-3, 2-6,10-5 after a tough battle.

In the 55-doubles final, Altaf Hussain and Humayun overpowered the duo of Gul Hameed and India’s Naresh Khatri by 6-2, 6-2.
