All villages of Jarma UC in Kohat to get gas facility

KOHAT: Former federal minister Abbas Khan Afridi has said that work on all projects announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his recent visit of Kohat is going on expeditiously.

He was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating Jarma gas supply scheme here on Sunday. He said that gas would be supplied to all the villages of Jarma union council with a cost of Rs40 million.

He said that land had been acquired for the construction of hospital, while survey of the motorway between Kohat and Fateh Jhang, industrial zone and campus of women university was in progress. Others who spoke on the occasion included MPA Amjdi Afridi and tehsil councillor Ghuncha Gul.


Abbas Afridi says work started on projects announced by prime minister


Mr Abbas criticised the opponents for befooling the people through making just sessions by inaugurating gas schemes, which was a federal subject. He alleged that MNA from the area had not approved a single gas supply project for Kohat.

DRAINAGE SCHEME: Provincial law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs60 million for various development projects in PK-39 constituency.

Addressing a public meeting in Jarma on Sunday held in connection with the ground-breaking ceremony of a drainage scheme, he said that the proposal regarding lifting of ban on transfer of land in the area had been finalised.

The function was also attended by opposition leader in the district council, Naseem Afridi, and tehsil councillors. The minister announced separate standardised girls secondary schools for Jarma and Shahpur union councils and construction of Zara Mela and Eidgah roads.

FUNDS DEMANDED: Marai village council nazim Bilal Hussain has demanded of the government to provide funds to the LG representatives at village level so that benefits of the system can be felt at the grassroots level.

Speaking at a public meeting, he also said that 70 per cent of the population lived in the villages therefore sufficient funds were needed to solve problems of the people of rural areas which needed drinking water, health facilities and roads.

Meanwhile, the Kohat police arrested five proclaimed offenders and 34 alleged drug peddlers besides over 100 suspects in 22 operations carried out in different areas of the district on Sunday.

DSP Hussain Ghulam told mediapersons that the police teams in Saddar circles also seized weapons and drugs, including five Kalashnikovs, 15 pistols, seven rifles, four shotguns, 15 kilogrammes of hashish and 153 liters of liquor. Cases have been registered against 82 accused in respective police stations.
