Efforts will be made to consolidate gains of Karachi operation: COAS Gen Bajwa

Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said all out efforts will be made to consolidate gains during the ongoing Karachi operation to indiscriminately eliminate remnants of terrorists and their sleeper cells, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Detailed briefings focusing on the accomplishments of the Karachi operation and the way forward was given to Gen Bajwa during his visits to Corps Headquarters and Rangers Headquarters in Karachi. The army chief was also informed of the operational preparedness of the formation and security situation in Sindh, ISPR said.

The army chief said reversal of the gains of operations will not be allowed, and they will continue till the attainment of sustainable peace.

The army chief directed a focused and synergised effort of all military and civil intelligence agencies in order to pre-empt potential threats to the peace of Karachi and assured the provincial government of the army's support for capacity-building and training of law enforcement agencies for long-term effectiveness against organised crime and enduring peace.

Gen Bajwa was received upon arrival by Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar, who was recently appointed as the new Director General Inter-Services Intelligence.
