KARACHI: With two exceptions, the top seeds reigned supreme in the Sindh ranking squash tournament circuit-1 which concluded at the Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, PSB Coaching Centre, the other day.

Top seeds Noman Khan and Zahab Khan, as expected, lived up to their billing when they captured the men’s and women’s titles respectively.

Noman took 17 minutes while outplaying fourth seed Mahad Javed straight 11-4, 11-7, 11-8 while Zahab overcome second seed Noor-ul-Huda Shah 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9 in the final that lasted 23 minutes.

Second seed Saad Abdullah created quite a stir when he stunned top seed Talha Alam 11-7, 9-11, 14-12, 11-9 to claim the boys under-17 title.

Similarly, second seed Zaynab shocked top seed Ilsa Imran 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 to annex the girls under-15 crown.

Squash legend Jahangir Khan who graced the finals gave away the prizes. Also present on the occasion were former squash player of yore Mohammad Yasin and secretary of the Sindh Squash Association Rashid Ahmad.

Results:

Men’s final: Noman bt Mahad Javed 11-4, 11-7, 11-8.

Women’s final: Zahab Khan bt Noor-ull-Huda 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Boys under-17 final: Saad Abdullah bt Talha Alam 11-7, 9-11, 14-12, 11-9.

Boys’ under-15 final: Rafi Khan bt Obaidullah11-4, 11-6, 11-8.

Boys’ under-13 final: Fawaz bt Ismail (walkover).

Girls under-15 final: Zaynab bt Ilsa Imran11-8, 11-5, 11-7.

Men’s semi-finals: Mahad Javed bt Sikandar Khan 12-10, 1-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9. Noman Khan bt Ali Imran 11-8, 11-7, 11-3.

Women’s semi-finals: Zahab Khan bt Meyral Sheikh 11-5, 11-6, 11-6; Noor bt Anam Aziz 11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8.

Boys under-17 semi-finals: Talha bt Osama 11-6, 11-6, 11-4; Saad Abdullah bt Bilal 12-10, 11-7, 12-10.

Boys under-15 semi-finals: Obaidullah bt Ibrahim 11-4, 11-5, 11-6; Rafi Khan bt Abdul Rauf 11-1, 11-4, 11-0.

Boys under-13 semi-finals: Ismail bt Ammar Ali 14-12, 12-14, 10-12, 11-6, 11-7; Fawad Asim bt Hurraira Zafar 11-8, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9.

Girls under-15 semi-finals: Ilsa Imran bt Aina 11-8,

11-2, 11-5; Zaynab Khan bt Alishba 11-0, 11-1, 11-0.
