RAWALPINDI: A four-day poster competition titled ‘Sympathy to Victim of Terrorism’, hosted by the Punjab Art Council in remembrance of the victims of the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar, opened at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Thursday.
PML-N MPA Raja Hanif and Punjab Art Council Deputy Director Naeem Ehsan were the chief guests at the event, in which more than 200 students from government colleges and universities had participated. More than 120 posters had been displayed at the art gallery.
“The Punjab Arts Council selected posters made by the fine arts students of universities and colleges in the provinces in remembrance of the victims of terrorism,” said Mr Ehsan.
He added that the provincial government wanted to exhibit the posters made by students in all the big cities of the province in order to raise awareness about the effect of terrorism on ordinary people as well as its victims.
PML-N MPA Raja Hanif said the aim of the poster exhibition was to raise awareness among the people and to assure them of the plans of the government for ensuring the safety of citizens.
He said the government was working according to the National Action Plan in order to secure cities and villages and protect them from terrorism.
He added that the people supported the government in maintaining the law and order situation and that the government has launched many big projects so that people can move across the country without any fear.
The PML-N led federal government was working on making the country more investor friendly through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, which will also create more employment, the MPA said.
RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed said the aim of the exhibition was to express solidarity with the victims of terrorism and that the council will be staging a play titled ‘Yakeen-i-Mukham’ in order to pay tribute to the victims of Army Public School. The play is written by Naheed Manzoor and directed by Laiba Ali.
The exhibition will continue till Dec 18.
