PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has alleged that judiciary disappointed millions of Pakistanis in the case of Panama leaks.

Speaking at a student festival in Islamia College University here on Thursday, he said that the Supreme Court should not have gone on vacation in the larger interest of the country because nation was expecting judgment in the high profile case.

“Our judiciary has disappointed the nation in the Panama leaks case,” he maintained, adding that leaks had put the country at crossroads. Islami Jamiat Talba, the student wing of JI, had organised the three-day festival.

The JI chief said that ruling class had shifted billions of dollars from the country and many leaders had admitted that they had accounts in foreign banks. He said that corrupt elite class had purchased properties through ill gotten money.

Mr Siraj said that millions of people were without electricity despite huge deposits of coal and water resources that showed inefficiency of the rulers. He said that deposits of gold had been discovered in Balochistan, but people of Balochistan could not take financial benefits of rich mineral resources.

The JI chief said that those leaders, who turned Pakistan into a battle field for appeasing America, should be held accountable. He said that over 60,000 people had been killed owing to wrong policies of the rulers. He said that corrupt leaders were responsible for price hike, lawlessness and power loadshedding.

Mr Siraj said that if India stopped flow of water to Pakistan then its repercussions would be very fatal for the entire region. He said that recent statement of the special assistant to the prime minister, Tariq Fatmi, had raised more questions.

He opposed protection of minorities law passed by the Sindh Assembly and said that he had discussed the Act with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and conveyed his reservations over the law to him.
