SHIKARPUR: Five members of a family along with their driver were killed when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a container-mounted truck near Sonwah bus stop in Garhi Yasin on Sunday evening. Two other members of the family were and three passers-by were also injured in the accident.

Area people and police said that the car was moving from Larkana to Garhi Yasin direction when it was hit by the long vehicle from the opposite side. The police said that the long vehicle was on its way to Shikarpur from Ratodero.

The deceased victims were identified as Anna Rajput, 30, and her three daughters, Alisha, 9, Rida, 5 and Hina, 6, and the woman’s sister-in-law, Zeeshan Rajput. The deceased car driver was identified as Abdul Majeed Bhutto. The two other young girls travelling in the car, Aisha and Zainab, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Chandka Medical College Hospital in Larkana for treatment.

The trailer driver, Daftar Khan, and cleaner, Nayab Khan, were taken into custody and their vehicle was impounded, the police said.
