GWADAR: Naveed Baloch, the Pakistani who was detained briefly by German police over suspicion that he was involved in the killings in Berlin on Monday, belongs to Kech district of Balochistan, according to one of his cousins.
“Naveed Baloch came to Germany to seek asylum due to the ongoing insurgency in different areas of Balochistan,” Abdul Waheed Baloch told Dawn by telephone from Berlin late on Tuesday.
Waheed said he, Naveed and another friend were crossing a road in the area where the deadly incident took place when police stopped them and said that they would be fined for a traffic violation. Later on, they took Naveed into custody.
In the meantime, television news channels began saying that Naveed had been arrested and was a suspect in the case. “Naveed was associated with the Baloch National Movement before leaving for Germany,” he said, adding that his father was living in a village close to the Pak-Iran border. One of Naveed’s brothers was living in Dubai.

Germany should compensate monetarily for the insult and humiliation caused by falsely naming Pakistani for the attack, Pakistan should also be compensated heavily.

How did he escape from Pakistan.? Interior Ministry must respond. [ If allowed to leave Pakistan, with prior permissions, who gave the permission]
Above should be informed to the nation...as Pakistanis, are continuously coming /projected in bad spot light........ reason may be Pakistan's lax governance .
DAWN readers should also plead on this for the sake of our reputation.Otherwise, God forbid may happen again and again. Journalists should ask this question in the next press conference,

It show's our Neighbor is filled with poison and not trust worthy. Check how they reported the issue in India. They never feel ashamed off their deeds.

@Rehman it is by default. This chap was innocent and was picked up on frenzy by the police. It has become a fashion to implicate Pakistan in everything that goes wrong in any part of the world and some regional "powers" feel good about it!!

I belong to a village in district Jhelum. Almost 50% of the young men in my village have now moved to Greece Norway Germany Canada or Australia. They have all sought asylum there. I can see no ongoing insurgency in district Jhelum from which they are running away. These are all economic migrants .

It has become so easy now a days to call someone suspicious"Pakistani" or "Afghani" or "Iraqi" rather than first ascertaining what the facts are (Any other nationality I'm sure they would have said 'A suspicious man arrested now released due to lack of evidence ').Western media, though known to be quite mature, seems very biased and irresponsible when it comes to pointing fingers in such instances.

For all its woes, PIA flights do land with some regularity in many European capitals, from Barcelona, Milan, Paris, to Frankfurt etc. Many Pakistanis come to Europe on Tourist, Business or Student visas. Most do return to Pakistan voluntarily after their visit. This guy makes it sound as if all of Pakistan is a war zone, like Syria or Afghanistan.
Do we even hear of any Yemenis seeking asylum in Europe, like the Afghans and some opportunist Pakistanis are doing? No, even though Yemen has no functional government, and people are close to starvation. Yet the Yemenis are proud and dignified people and don't want to be seen begging for scraps or aid from Europeans. Pakistanis like this guy are the reasons the country has such a negative image abroad. He is definitely on his way back from Germany, because his relative's statements don't support his claims of distress and danger. Pakistan is still large country with 180 million able to survive.

@Dr.Sadaf - Apologize to whom? Our FM+PM didn't care, he's on a personal trip to Bosnia. Did he or his ministry try to even intervene with the Germans or contact this Pakistani in Germany? NO, of course not!
When we have such a corrupt government, do you think it cares about the negative publicity about the country - when their entire purposes is personal gains??
